Protecting part of the bay for conservation - marine tourism and mariculture will provide economic and ecological benefits. However, in conditions where the protected area overlaps with mariculture and tourism areas, it is expected that these activities can co-exist.
The objectives of this research are (1) to determine the condition and dynamics of changes in coral reef ecosystems, (2) to determine the characteristics of the aquatic environment, and (3) to develop a co-existence model of conservation - marine tourism - mariculture based on carrying capacity in Saleh Bay. The target to be achieved is the development of a co-existence model of conservation-maritime tourism-mariculture in supporting food security and community welfare, especially in the Teluk Saleh area and advanced Indonesia can be achieved.
The data to be used are insitu data / field surveys, high and or medium resolution satellite image data in a 20-year time series and secondary data from research institutions and universities.
The research method uses a tiered quantitative method that is descriptive in nature. Processing of water quality data was carried out using the Surfer 16 application, followed by making regression analysis graphs using the Minitab 18 application. Processing of satellite image data will produce a classification map of coral cover dynamics. Focus Group Discussions, modelling and technical meetings between the team and PEMDA partners, as well as compiling and obtaining a model design that is ready to be tested in the field. This research will produce a model of co-existence of conservation - marine tourism - mariculture, so that ecological and economic benefits in supporting food security and community welfare, especially in the Saleh Bay area and developed Indonesia can be achieved.
Topics:
1) Conditions and dynamics of changes in coral reef ecosystems
2) Characteristics and dynamics of the aquatic environment
3) Co-existence model of conservation - marine tourism - mariculture based on carrying capacity.
