UMT TriboLab is a multifunctional tribology testing system designed to measure and analyze surface behavior when friction, wear, and lubrication occur between two contacting surfaces under various environmental conditions and load parameters.
This tool is widely used in research on materials, coatings, lubricants, mechanical components, biomaterials, and even nuclear materials for:
1. Testing the coefficient of friction (CoF)
2. Measuring wear (wear rate / volume loss)
3. Studying boundary lubrication and elastohydrodynamics
4. Evaluating tribochemical and triboscience phenomena
TRIBOLOGICAL TEST SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS (UMT TRIBOLAB / TRIBOMETER)
1. Sample Type
- Disk / flat specimen
- Pin or ball
2. General Dimensions
- Disk/flat: diameter 20–50 mm, thickness 3–10 mm
- Ball: diameter 3, 6, or 10 mm
- Cylindrical pin: diameter 3–6 mm
- Surface must be flat and parallel
3. Surface Conditions
- Clean, free of oil, dust, and rust
- No cracks, no warping, no peeling
- Surface roughness (Ra) must be specified (typically: Ra < 1> 4. Material and Safety
- Material type clearly described
- Does not contain hazardous materials without declaration
- Special materials (radioactive, toxic, etc.) must be accompanied by a safety form
5. Number of Samples
- Minimum of 1 sample per test condition
- 2–3 samples (duplicate/triplicate) recommended
6. Mandatory Information from the User
- Test type (pin-on-disk, ball-on-disk, reciprocating, etc.)
- Test parameters (load, speed, time/sliding distance)
- Test conditions (dry, lubricated, liquid, temperature)
- Test standards (if any, e.g., ASTM G99)
- Sample code or label
7. Packaging
- Each sample must be permanently labeled
- Packaged separately to prevent scratches
- Accompanied by a test request form
