So far, marine protected areas are considered to only produce ecological benefits that function as regional protection and have not provided optimal economic benefits for food security and the welfare of surrounding communities. This research will examine and design a co-existence model of marine conservation-tourism-mariculture in the same area, so that optimal ecological and economic benefits can be achieved for the food security of coastal communities.
The novelty offered is a model of co-existence management of conservation-maritime tourism-mariculture in supporting food security that can simultaneously improve the welfare of the community in the Teluk Saleh area.
Some of the research topics offered are:
1. Whale Shark Occurrence Analysis Using Maximum Entropy Model
2. Influence of Oceanographic Environment on Small Pelagic Fish Catches
3. Mapping Changes in Mangrove Ecosystem Area and Above Ground Carbon Using Pleiades Imagery (2020-2024)
4. Mapping Coral Reef Habitat Using Satellite and Drone Imagery
5. Determination of Marine Area Zone (Whale Shark) Using Marxan Method
6. Mapping Model of Watershed Pollutants and their impact on coastal ecosystems.
7. Co-existence of conservation-maritime tourism-mariculture
