The ELAC Seabeam 3050 is an advanced multibeam sonar system used for seabed mapping with very high quality bathymetry data. It is designed to provide precise underwater mapping at various depths, from shallow water to deep water, and is used in a variety of applications, such as hydrographic surveys, geophysical research, and seabed geological mapping. The Seabeam 3050 delivers highly accurate and detailed results with wide coverage, making it an ideal tool for seabed surveys that require high accuracy.
Instrument Description:
The Wärtsilä ELAC SeaBeam 3050 is the latest generation of Wärtsilä ELAC Nautik's medium-depth multibeam system, collecting real-time bathymetry, bottom amplitude, side scan data, and water column imagery (WCI). Thanks to its depth capability, wide coverage, and multi-ping operation, the SeaBeam 3050 is ideal for continental slope mapping.
Operates at 50 kHz for water depths from 5 meters below the transducer to ~3,000 meters. The ship’s cross-sweep width is up to 5.5× the water depth, with a maximum of 918 beams per multi-ping. Data is fully compensated for the ship’s roll, pitch, and yaw motions. Roll compensation: ±15°, pitch: ±10°, yaw: ±5°. The sonar sensor’s depth accuracy exceeds IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) standards. Fully automatic mode allows reliable and easy system operation. Multi-ping mode allows transmission and processing of two swaths per ping cycle, allowing for higher survey speeds while maintaining 100% baseline coverage.
