Fluorescence spectroscopy is a type of electromagnetic spectroscopy that analyzes fluorescence from a sample. This spectroscopy involves the use of light beams which excite electrons in certain molecular compounds and cause light to emit. In this case the intensity fluctuation of the emitted light is measured from a single fluorophore or fluorophore pair.
