Extraction is a process of separating active ingredients in inactive or inert plant cells or tissues by using a solvent that matches its polarity.
Extraction methods that can be carried out at the P2Kimia Extractor facility:
Maceration is done by immersing the simplicia powder in a liquid filter.
Percolation is carried out by slowly passing the appropriate solvent through the simplicia in a percolator
Reflux is a simplicia extraction using heated volatile solvents, but will be cooled by a condenser so that the solvent, which was in the form of vapor, will condense on the condenser and fall back into the reaction container so that the solvent will remain during the reaction.
Socletation is done by heating the solvent until the steam that arises after it cools down will continuously wet the sample, regularly the solvent is put back into the flask with the chemical compound to be isolated.
The extraction facility is equipped with 200 L and 500 L capacity extractor tanks, evaporation unit, and extract drying oven, until dry extract is obtained. The dryness of the extract depends on the simplicia material and the type of solvent used as the extractor. Extraction can be done on a scale of 1 kg to more than 20 kg of raw material. The cost depends on the amount of raw material.
