A hot cell is a facility designed for handling high activity radioactive materials using a remote system so that there is no direct contact between personnel and the test material. Each hot cell is equipped with a lead glass window to view the inside of the hot cell as well as auxiliary tools such as manipulators, conveyors, incell cranes, trolleys and so on which are controlled from the operating area.

Hot Cell ZG 103 consists of several non-destructive test (NDT) facilities which include:

- X-ray radiography
- Ultrasonic test

The use of the ZG 103 Hot Cell is specifically intended for researchers from ORTN
