General Description:
This internship offers practical and in-depth experience in analyzing mooring systems for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWTs). Students will be involved in applied research activities to understand how mooring systems influence the stability and performance of floating structures in dynamic marine environments.
Internship Objectives:
  • To study various types of mooring systems commonly used in FOWTs.
  • To perform numerical simulations and/or model analysis using engineering software tools.
  • To analyze the forces acting on mooring systems due to waves, currents, and wind.
  • To provide design recommendations for optimal mooring systems at specific locations in Indonesian waters.
Expected Outputs:
  • A technical report on the performance of mooring systems for a specific FOWT scenario.
  • Datasets and visualizations of numerical simulation results.
  • A scientific presentation as part of internship results dissemination.
  • A draft of a scientific article, poster, or conference proceeding.
Skills and Competencies Developed:
  • Understanding of offshore structural dynamics and mooring design principles.
  • Proficiency in offshore and marine simulation software.
  • Technical data analysis and technical report writing skills.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research collaboration (marine engineering, renewable energy, mechanical/structural engineering).
Participant Qualifications:
  • Final-year undergraduate students majoring in Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy, offshore structural design, and numerical modeling.
  • Basic experience in programming and CAD tools is preferred.
