This instrument is used for the analysis of volatile organic chemical compounds (volatile) through two devices which are combined into one (GC tandem MSD). Samples containing volatile compounds are injected into the GC system and then the separation process is carried out in the column based on polarity. After being eluted from the GC system, each compound that has been separated, will enter the MS system and then be fragmented with certain ionisation energies.
