Enzymes for Health and the
Environment

Activities: This research group focuses on activities related to the topic of cosmeceutical enzymes and pharmaceutical enzymes, such as the fibrinolytic enzyme group, melanin-degrading enzymes (the cause of dark spots on the skin), and trypsin-like protease enzymes. Research is directed at bioprospecting local microbes that produce enzymes, production and purification processes, in vitro enzyme testing, and formulation of health products such as toners and skincare serums. Interested students are expected to continue for the final project topic.
