The scope of activities includes cellular engineering of plant metabolites both at the molecular level and using other techniques, characterization (profiling) of secondary metabolites of food and horticultural plant commodities that have advantages in terms of plant growth/phenotype or certain secondary metabolite content and tolerance to stress. This activity also includes the identification of metabolite compounds and genetic engineering of plants to enhance secondary metabolites using CRISPR technology. The results obtained from this research will be implemented in the breeding process to develop new varieties with higher metabolite content as candidates for new superior plant varieties.
