This internship focuses on identifying potential risks and evaluating the reliability of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (FOWT) systems, including structural components, mooring systems, and energy generation subsystems. The student will analyse failure scenarios and assess their impacts on FOWT performance and safety. The study will apply established engineering approaches, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and probabilistic methods, to quantify system reliability. The outcomes of this internship are expected to support the design of a safe, robust, and reliable FOWT Prototype (α), capable of withstanding harsh offshore conditions.

- Understanding of technical risk management and reliability assessment for offshore systems
- Familiarity with FMEA, FTA, and probabilistic analysis methods
- Analysis of structural and operational failures in offshore wind energy systems
- Skills in developing risk matrices and integrating reliability analysis into system design
- Critical thinking, technical reporting, and documentation skills
- Final-year undergraduate student in Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
- Completed coursework in Offshore Structures, Engineering Statistics, or Risk Management
- Basic knowledge of energy systems and ocean environmental loads
- Ability to read and interpret technical literature in English
- Attention to detail, strong analytical reasoning, and interest in engineering risk evaluation
- Willing to commit to a whole internship period and contribute actively to a research/design team
