The complexity and high utilisation of coastal areas and small islands, including as conservation areas and marine ecotourism, requires well-integrated management, especially when in contact with local communities. Good and integrated management of coastal areas and small islands will increase the bioecological-economic value of coastal and marine natural resources while increasing added value for the welfare of the community.
The research objectives are (1) to analyse the distribution and condition of coral reefs and sea turtles as conservation icons of the area, (2) to analyse the socio-economic characteristics of the community, the aquatic environment, and the carrying capacity of the use of conservation areas and marine ecotourism, and (3) to develop a model for the integration of conservation areas and marine ecotourism in the Ngambur Coastal Park (TPN) Waters of West Pesisir Regency, Lampung Province, so that bioecological-economic benefits can be optimised. The target to be achieved is the development of an integrated model of conservation areas - marine ecotourism in supporting food security and community welfare, especially in the Ngambur Coastal Park area, West Pesisir Regency, Lampung Province and Indonesia can be achieved.
The data to be used are insitu data / field surveys, satellite image data (medium and high resolution in 20-year time series), as well as secondary data sourced from government agencies, research institutions and universities. Satellite image data processing will produce a classification map of coral cover dynamics and a map of turtle habitat suitability.
The research method uses a tiered quantitative method and or purposive sample that is descriptive in nature. Water quality data were processed using Surfer and or other similar applications (e.g. MIKE21 and ODV), and integration between observation components was analysed with Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Focus Group Discussions are conducted as information gathering and technical meetings between the research team and partner LGUs in order to develop and obtain a model design that is ready to be tested in the field.
The research will produce a model of integration of conservation areas and marine ecotourism with the active participation of the community and so that bioecological-economic benefits in supporting food security and community welfare, especially in the waters of the Ngambur Coastal Park, West Pesisir Regency, Lampung Province and Indonesia can be achieved.
Topics:
