Marek's disease is a disease in chickens caused by the Marek's disease virus from the genus Mardivirus (Alphaherpesviridae) which is characterized by the formation of tumors in various organs such as lymphoid organs, liver, nervous system and skin tissue. Although vaccination has succeeded in suppressing the incidence of the disease, the threat of the disease does not stop there because the evolution of the virus has become more virulent. Marek's outbreaks have been reported to hit several commercial farms in various countries in the world even though vaccination programs have been carried out. Monitoring the current situation of Marek's disease in Indonesia is very necessary as an early warning. This study aims to develop a more sensitive Marek's virus identification test with a molecular approach. Research activities include exploration of Marek's disease in the field and development of a more sensitive disease detection test, namely real-time PCR based on Taqman and/or digital PCR.
