Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM)
Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) is a metal melting process based on electromagnetic induction, operated under vacuum conditions to produce alloys with high purity and excellent homogeneity. This process enables precise composition control while minimizing contamination from the surrounding environment.

VIM is generally used for melting non-titanium alloys, such as stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, and cobalt-based alloys, which require strict compositional control. This facility is intended exclusively for internal BRIN users. This service uses a payment scheme through Elsa Points.

For usage of this equipment outside working hours, users are required to complete Form F-BRIN-02-02 (Application Form for Permission to Use Process, Preparation, Workshop, and Other Facilities Outside Working Hours), which can be accessed Aksesibilitas Laboratorium - Download Formulir.

Internal BRIN personnel outside the ORNM Metallurgy Laboratory who wish to use this facility are also required to complete Form F-BRIN-02-05 (Laboratory Usage – Internal Personnel), available in the same menu.

Users are expected to read the SOP and sample requirements listed in the Service Documents before use.
