MiniRUEDI Portable Mass Spectrometer
Description
The MiniRUEDI is a portable mass spectrometer for quantifying the partial pressures of He, Ne, Ar, Kr, N2, O2, CO2, CH4, H2, and others in gases or water. It is designed for environmental research and enables maintenance-free, on-site gas analysis during fieldwork in remote locations. It does not require calibration using standard water with known gas concentrations. The software for control and data processing is open source, providing flexibility for gas analysis and data processing.
Features
• Analytical range: ppm-level to 100%-v/v (tested using He, Ar, and Kr in a gas matrix such as air)
• Analytical uncertainty: typically 1–3% (tested for He, Ar, Kr, N2, and O2 in a gas matrix such as air)
• Calibration using ambient air as a standard gas for the analysis of He, Ar, Kr, N2, and O2 in air-like gases or in water
• 6 gas inlets at atmospheric pressure
• Low sample gas consumption (0.1 ml/min or less)
• Power supply: 24 V (DC), can be operated with a 110–230 V (AC) mains converter or batteries, solar panels, etc.
• Power consumption: 50 W (normal operation)
• Dimensions and weight (including case): 80 cm × 52 cm × 32 cm / 32 kg
Installation
1. Mass spectrometer main unit
2. GE-MIMS membrane module for dissolved gas analysis in water
3. Laptop with MiniRUEDI software
