Sonardyne Scout Plus
Is a portable ship-mounted acoustic transmitter and receiver designed for use with Sonardyne's Scout Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) acoustic positioning system. The transceiver interrogates the underwater transponder attached to the target being tracked (ROV, diver, tow fish), receives its reply and calculates range, heading and declination to determine the relative x,y,z position of the vessel. Depending on the type of Scout system; Scout, Scout Plus or Scout Pro, up to 10 underwater targets can be tracked simultaneously. Crafted from Aluminum Bronze, this transceiver offers excellent corrosion resistance making it suitable for long-term use. A lightweight Aluminum alloy version is also available. The Scout transceiver is usually installed on the side of the ship. If permanent installation is required, the transceiver can be mounted through the hull. Sonardyne offers options for boatside and through-hull mounting arrangements. The Scout transceiver is equipped with an integrated motion sensor that automatically compensates for the ship's dynamic movements. For applications with higher accuracy, external reference sensors can be used with Scout Plus and Scout Pro.
