Tig Welding Multimedia. Tools used to perform welding/joining of metals.
Welding is the process of joining two or more materials by melting and fusing the parts being joined with filler material, to form a strong and permanent bond.
SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) / Manual Electric Welding
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) / MIG (Metal Inert Gas)
GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) / TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)
Welding techniques:
Electric Arc Welding (Arc Welding)
SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) / Manual Electric Welding
Process: Using a flux-coated electrode that creates a shielding gas when burned.
Material Examples:Carbon steel: ASTM A36, S235JR
Stainless steel: SS304, SS316
Cast iron: FC250
Material Size:Carbon steel plate: 3 mm – 25 mm
Electrode: Ø 2.0 mm – 6.0 mm
GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) / MIG (Metal Inert Gas)
✔ Process: Using continuous electrode wire with shielding gas (argon, CO₂).
✔ Material Examples:
Aluminum: 6061-T6, 5052
Carbon steel: ASTM A500, S275
Stainless steel: SS304, SS316
✔ Material Size:
Steel plate: 1 mm – 10 mm
Electrode wire diameter: 0.8 mm – 1.6 mm
GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) / TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)
✔ Process: Using unused tungsten electrode with shielding gas (argon, helium).
✔ Material Examples:
Titanium: Ti-6Al-4V
Aluminum: 6061-T6, 7075
Copper: C101, C110
✔ Material Size:
Aluminum plate: 0.5 mm – 6 mm
Tungsten electrode diameter: 1.0 mm – 4.0 mm
Laser Welding (LBW)
✔ Process: Using a high-energy laser beam to melt and join metals. ✔ Material Examples:
Stainless steel: SS430, SS304
Titanium: Ti-6Al-4V
Aluminum alloy: 6061-T6
✔ Material Size:
Thin steel plate: 0.2 mm – 4 mm
Joint width: 0.1 mm – 3 mm
Sample Requirements
The material to be connected is given first to the implementer and then informed about the method according to the desired results.
Additional requirements
Services are carried out on the elsa.brin.go.id website by completing information on the welding method and technique desired by the customer after registration until verified.
