The Bioenergy Enzyme Research Group focuses on the exploration, characterization, and enzymatic engineering to support the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable bioenergy technologies. Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates microbiology, molecular biotechnology, bioinformatics, and applied biochemistry, the group targets the development of key enzymes such as lipases, cellulases, xylanases, and esterases for the conversion of biomass, waste oil, and renewable substrates into biodiesel, bioethanol, and other high-value bioproducts.
Scope:
-
Exploration and characterization of bioenergy enzymes such as lipases, cellulases, xylanases, and esterases from local and extremophilic microorganisms.
-
Development of enzyme variants with enhanced activity, stability, and selectivity to improve the efficiency of bioenergy conversion processes.
-
Design of efficient recombinant enzyme production systems and immobilization technologies for reuse in industrial-scale processes.
-
Integration of enzymes into the conversion of renewable feedstocks into biodiesel, bioethanol, and related bioproducts.
